STUCCO CORNUTO (Special Edition) is a recycled work. The stucco profile became an object that combines the thought of past and present representation ways, as well as the development of design and the culture of the fake and how we disguise to be perceived in a certain way. I’m combining two very different handcrafts and materiality’s, so the sculpture appears familiar and weird at the same time.
The title “Cornuto” is Italian and has a double meaning, which is “horned” or “to be cheated on”. The sculpture has the potential to cheat on the viewers eye, by pretending to be something else and faking materiality. The “Special Edition” is a reference, to make something appear more interesting or rare so the price of the product can be risen. As in the art context we could make the connection to auctions and how works of art become an investment.
